A Threepenny Odyssey
This is the Odyssey in fifteen minutes, with my own music (To be added). It has been performed twice by pupils at Dartington Hall School, and once by a group from Northcliffe School in Conisbrough who spent a week learning the songs, making the scenery and enjoying themselves. The piano accompaniment is supposed to be easy, and most of it is, but I always forget that not everyone can play boogie.
The episodes cover the beginning of Odysseus’s journey, Penelope’s weaving, the sirens, Circe’s isle, and Odysseus’s return home, recognised by Argus before he kills Penelope’s suitors and is reunited with her.
